Getting Real About The Achievement Gap

The Achievement Gap exists.

Now, I know that is not a surprise. Some people achieve more than others. It is just a fact. It always has been. What is different today is that our divisive leaders have convinced those who achieve less that it is the fault of those who achieve more.

The definition of achievement is:

  1. something that has been done or achieved through effort; a result of hard work.
  1. the act of achieving something.
  1. the state or condition of having achieved or accomplished something.

If someone ties me up and prevents me from achieving it is on him. While that is rarely the case, if I achieve less than someone else, it is usually on me.

Blaming someone else for failing to accomplish something is ridiculous.  In fact, it is cowardly.

So, if we are achieving less than someone else, the first thing to do is look at ourselves and ask why I am failing to achieve. Any other response is foolish.  And it won’t do a thing to help us achieve.

About Doc

I am a Psychologist and a veteran of the Vietnam War. I work with abused children and with agencies which try to both prevent abuse and to empower those who have been abused. I feel strongly about child abuse and take every action I can to prevent it and to support the children I work with who have experienced it. I also feel strongly about politics and especially the course being taken by our nation. I believe that America is at a critical point in its development. How we answer the challenges from Islamic fascists and from our own internal enemies in the media, government, and academia will determine America’s future and the future of our children. I believe that if we don’t take the correct course now, America will go the way of Europe and that we will not reach the potential set out by our founding fathers. I believe that it is now getting serious. My gravitar is from "Darkman".
