Waste and Incompetence: Key Words for Obamacare

The federal government has failed our veterans with its socialistic, government funded, single-payer health care system. While you might think that the government would learn from its mistake with the VA, it decided to create the foundation for a socialistic, government funded, single-payer health care system for every American (excluding the elites who created it).

From the beginning, Obamacare has been a failure. Failed technology, cost overruns, and general incompetence have been the rule rather than the exception. Even the underlying legislation was a failure, saved only by an activist, socialist-leaning Supreme Court.

It gets worse. According to the NY Times (7/5/15), “Health insurance companies around the country are seeking rate increases of 20 percent to 40 percent or more, saying their new customers under the Affordable Care Act turned out to be sicker than expected.

Now, Elizabeth Harrington (Washington Free Beacon, 6/16/15) reports, “The federal government cannot verify nearly $3 billion in subsidies distributed through Obamacare, putting significant taxpayer funding ‘at risk’.”

She writes, “The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) released an audit … finding that the agency did not have an internal system to ensure that subsidies went to the right enrollees, or in the correct amounts.” According to the OIG, “‘CMS’s system of internal controls could not ensure that CMS made correct financial assistance payments…(and) the agency did not have a system to ensure that financial assistance payments were made on behalf of confirmed enrollees and in the correct amounts.’”

Furthermore, according to the report, “The government does ‘not plan to perform a timely reconciliation’ of the $2.8 billion in subsidies.”

Not only is Obamacare a failure, it is yet another socialistic system that will cost Americans billions with little return on our investment.

About Doc

I am a Psychologist and a veteran of the Vietnam War. I work with abused children and with agencies which try to both prevent abuse and to empower those who have been abused. I feel strongly about child abuse and take every action I can to prevent it and to support the children I work with who have experienced it. I also feel strongly about politics and especially the course being taken by our nation. I believe that America is at a critical point in its development. How we answer the challenges from Islamic fascists and from our own internal enemies in the media, government, and academia will determine America’s future and the future of our children. I believe that if we don’t take the correct course now, America will go the way of Europe and that we will not reach the potential set out by our founding fathers. I believe that it is now getting serious. My gravitar is from "Darkman".
