On The American Acceptance of “Ugly Brits”

I am confused.

I understand that America is “accepting of all people”, even the pathetic ones.  Two recent examples are Russell Brand and Piers Morgan.  Bothe were born in England.  Neither is a citizen of the United States.  One is a quite unfunny previously addicted “comedian” and the other a relatively uneducated reporter. Despite their lack of citizenship and miniscule credentials, both have very strong opinions about how America should be governed and how its citizens should act.  The sad part is that Americans listen to them.

If an American went to England (or anywhere else in Europe) and told them how to run their country, the phrase “Ugly American” would be in bold print and screaming words across European media.

Sagacity is not inherent in accent.  Britain has its own difficulties.  I would suggest that both Brand and Morgan use their self-declared brilliance to assist their own country out of its own dilemmas and allow Americans to manage our own.

I would further suggest that America end its enthrallment with European accents and loudness of voice and begin listening to the words.  That advice would have gone far in Europe prior to World War II.  Rather than call these two “Ugly Brits”, I suggest we just send them home.

About Doc

I am a Psychologist and a veteran of the Vietnam War. I work with abused children and with agencies which try to both prevent abuse and to empower those who have been abused. I feel strongly about child abuse and take every action I can to prevent it and to support the children I work with who have experienced it. I also feel strongly about politics and especially the course being taken by our nation. I believe that America is at a critical point in its development. How we answer the challenges from Islamic fascists and from our own internal enemies in the media, government, and academia will determine America’s future and the future of our children. I believe that if we don’t take the correct course now, America will go the way of Europe and that we will not reach the potential set out by our founding fathers. I believe that it is now getting serious. My gravitar is from "Darkman".
